Specialist Teacher Speech and Language Centre
A maternity cover post has arisen for a Specialist Teacher to plan and deliver EYFS/NC programmes and Educational Programmes for children attending the S&LC who have Speech, Language and Communication Needs. They have specific speech and/or expressive communication difficulties/disorders and attend their local mainstream school. They attend the S&LC for two days per week until the end of KS1. The successful candidate will liaise with the SENCo, school staff, parents and Speech and Language Therapists to share strategies and advice and inform on the educational and communication progress of the children. The successful candidate will require significant experience of working with children with communication difficulties as well as a detailed working knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage/Key Stage 1 mainstream curriculums.
Hours: 32.5 per week, Fixed Term to cover maternity leave
Salary: Teachers Pay Scale - £22,917 to £38,633 + SEN £4,158
Location: Speech and Language Centre at Quarry Bank Primary School

The role will be working alongside the Centre Manager, Speech and Language Therapists and HLTA to plan and teach the children who attend the Centre their mainstream curriculum – particularly English, Maths, social, emotional and well-being alongside the intense speech and language programmes as directed by the speech and language therapists to support their specific Speech, Language and Communication Need (SLCN). They will also assess, monitor and create detailed reports for parents and schools to help inform the next stages of learning. The successful candidate will need to be patient, calm and confident, a good communicator, a problem solver who is flexible, who can take the initiative as well as manage their own diary. They require a good understanding of access to education for pupils with Speech Language and Communication Needs alongside Early Years and Foundation Stage and KS1 National Curriculum requirements.
