Warwickshire County Council’s Registration Service is part of the Resources Group. We are committed to excellent customer service and are always looking for ways to improve the way we do things to meet the needs of the people of Warwickshire and beyond.

As well as registering births, deaths and stillbirths, taking notices of marriage and issuing copy certificates we conduct around 2,500 ceremonies a year across Warwickshire in 85 excellent venues approved by Warwickshire County Council.

We’re looking for a Deputy Superintendent Registrar to join us.

The Role

Fixed term contract for 6 months

Working in a team across our offices in Nuneaton, Rugby, Warwick and Stratford you will primarily be office based and dealing with the legal preliminaries for ceremonies and the associated paperwork. You will be responsible for conducting and registering marriages, civil partnerships, naming ceremonies and renewal of vows ceremonies across Warwickshire  as well as handling fees and supporting and guiding couples through their special day.

In addition you may be required to work on any day of the week including Sundays, public holidays as well as some evening work. A uniform will be provided. 

The post will be on an annualised contract and you will receive 22.2 hours pay each week, the role will require one fixed day (7.4 hours) on Thursday based in the Rugby office. The nature of the work that we carry out at Warwickshire Registration Service requires this post to be flexible in the hours and days worked. The contracted hours will be carried out to meet demand. The post will provide additional cover to the team at times when staffing levels are low and therefore requires total flexibility to work Monday to Friday; however the number of days, hours and work location will vary from week to week. i.e a minimum of one day and a maximum of 5 days. The working days are arranged in advance with the exception of sickness cover which may be requested at short notice.

Key Requirements

  • To be successful in this role you will need good administrative and customer service experience as well as a good standard of education.
  • It’s important you have good communication skills both verbal and written with clear and neat handwriting and are able to work accurately with excellent attention to detail.
  • You will be used to working within a team as well as on your own initiative; be resilient, flexible and able to work with people and confidential information with tact and diplomacy.
  • In addition it’s important you have good planning and organising skills, and are able to manage your time effectively and work under pressure.
  • Good IT skills, the ability to travel throughout the county and willing to attend relevant training courses are also required.
