An exciting opportunity to join our Highways PFI Contract Management team working at Lancaster Circus.

We are looking for a Contract and Commercial Officer to work with our Highway Change Team. You will maintain the details of changes to highway infrastructure and ensure payments to our Service Provider Amey are calculated, checked and made correctly, so an eye for detail and experience analysing data, updating systems and preparing reports would be a distinct advantage.

The successful applicant will also provide support to the wider PFI Contract Management Team. You will work with us to ensure that Amey are meeting their contractual obligations, and help to identify and develop new contractual approaches, changes and solutions that offer value for money to the residents of Birmingham.

You will come into contact with internal and external customers in this role across all our of channels, so you’ll need good written and verbal communication skills and feel confident and comfortable dealing with a wide variety of people at all levels on a diverse range of highway related issues. Previous highways experience isn't essential, but the ability to build relationships and rapport would be a real asset.

This will be an exciting but at times demanding role, so you will need to be able to stand your ground and be passionate about getting the best result for Birmingham. Your eye for detail and ability to analyse information will be put to great use as you help challenge our thinking and ensure our Officers and our Service Provider Amey are delivering on their obligations and are making sound business and commercial decisions.

You will need to be a self-starter, good communicator, flexible, adaptable and be comfortable working on your own initiative and as part of a closely knit team.

If this sounds like you, we would like to hear from you.

Right to work in the UK documentation will be fully checked for all applicants. All non UK and non EU applicants are required to apply for a Certificate of Sponsorship from Birmingham City Council and must be approved by the UK Border Agency (UKBA) before any employment offer can be confirmed.
