Successful candidates will be joining ICT at a time of growth as we work together to help move Walsall council towards achieving its Digital Transformation agenda, and migration to a cloud environment. We would like to recruit ambitious candidates who wish to take this opportunity to develop their ICT career with Walsall at this exciting time of growth and change.

Working at Walsall Council will allow you the opportunity to support and develop a diverse portfolio of solutions. Even the most experienced candidates accepted for this position will have the opportunity to expand and improve their skill sets in many areas.

Interested in SQL and C#? So are we! This is an opportunity to work closely with IT Project Managers, Solution and Infrastructure Architects, Software Delivery teams and IT Operations throughout the design and delivery lifecycle.

The SQL DBA will be experienced from a day-to-day support perspective and will be able to identify ways to improve the way we work today and develop the experience we provide our customers. You'll be proactive and passionate in driving standards. You will be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) that people and teams engage to discuss support and improvements to databases and models. The successful candidate will have substantial experience of providing support and being accountable for many SQL Server database systems.

Candidates with prior SQL experience will be given extra consideration, but all candidates with a strong grasp of programming principles, particularly experience with other similar languages (VB.NET, Java etc.), will be viewed favourably.

The council believes that it is critical to encourage personal development to have a successful team. As such, we are keen to allow our staff personal development time to undertake relevant training courses or otherwise improve their skill set.
