Lawnswood Campus Pupil Referral Units

Teacher of PE with TLR for Subject Co-ordinator

Full time, permanent

Required as soon as possible

Lawnswood Campus is home to 4 Pupil Referral Units (PRUs) serving schools and the City of Wolverhampton. The aim of all 4 Centres is to work with students who find mainstream schooling a challenge and provide opportunities to help them make their next steps more positive.

We work together, with schools and other professionals, to reduce barriers to learning and provide individualised programmes that meet the needs of our students.

Lawnswood Campus is committed to excellence. We enable learning by providing a rich and meaningful curriculum targeting students’ personalised needs. We aim to help our students overcome social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH) in order to manage their behaviour and make considered choices.

The Nightingale Centre offers a specialist part time provision, that works in partnership with key agencies to deliver appropriate intervention to vulnerable students with medical and mental health needs in a supportive and structured setting.

The Orchard Centre provides full time education for students in Key Stage 3 and 4 who require social, emotional or mental health (SEMH) support. We also welcome referrals for students with medical needs who can attend full time but may have difficulties in accessing mainstream education.

The Midpoint Centre is a Pupil Referral Unit for Key Stage 4 pupils with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties. The Centre offers a full time education with excellent facilities, where students can take advantage of opportunities to improve their life chances.

The Braybrook Centre is a Key Stage 3 Pupil Referral Unit for young people with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties. We do not only cater for students who are at risk or have been permanently excluded from mainstream school but also focus on early intervention.

We require enthusiastic, innovative and experienced Teachers to teach across the Campus.

You should have:

  • successful classroom experience of teaching core subjects to examination level
  • experience of or a willingness to learn about working with students with social, emotional and mental health difficulties
  • experience of leading/managing a subject area within an educational provision

It would be beneficial for you to visit the Centre in order to assist your application. We will be holding an open evening on Tuesday 20 March, 2018 commencing at 4.30pm. Please telephone either 01902 558102 or 01902 550382 to confirm your attendance.

Lawnswood Campus is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students and expects all staff to share this commitment. This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
