Birmingham has ambitious plans for sustainable and inclusive economic growth and the Birmingham Development Plan 2031 sets out how this will be achieved. If Birmingham is to deliver its growth agenda and attract investment it must provide the necessary infrastructure to support the projected growth levels. It is not possible or indeed desirable to accommodate the growth in demand for travel by private car. Changing transport behaviour is a key theme of the Council’s transport strategy in support of the Birmingham Development Plan 2031, particularly in respect of road safety, the use of sustainable modes, health and air quality. An exciting opportunity has arisen to manage the Council’s Transportation Behaviour Change Team including activities around, the Council’s Road Safety Strategy, Green Travel Districts and measures to offset the transport impacts of major development and events including HS2 and Commonwealth Games. The individual will possess a broad transport planning knowledge along with experience in implementing transport behaviour change programmes and travel planning or communicating the impacts of major developments. You will also have strong communication, leadership, partnership working and project management skills.
