WFDC is looking for an excellent commercial development officer with an entrepreneurial mindset and great leadership skills. You will be a creative strategist with excellent organisational abilities.

You’ll play a key part in ensuring that we achieve operational and financial goals and you’ll be instrumental in making sure we provide cost efficient, customer focused services.

Wyre Forest District Council’s goal is to promote and expand commercial activity that will generate revenues and lead to sustainable growth.

The post holder must possess a professional or degree level qualification in business administration or related field and have experience at a senior level within a commercial, sales or marketing environment. The post holder should be experienced in the preparation of strategic documents, business plans, control of capital and revenue budgets and a wide range of commercial, sales or marketing functions and activity. Experience of working in local government is desirable.

• Develop and implement specific commercial plans in line with WFDC Commercial Strategy 2018-23 with the aim of accelerating income growth

• Conduct market research and analysis to create detailed business plans on commercial opportunities (expansion, business development etc.)

• Understand the requirements of existing customers to ensure their needs are being met

• Act to acquire new customers and manage client relationships (new and existing)

• Collaborate with and coordinate diverse teams (marketing, sales, customer service etc.)

• Build and maintain profitable partnerships with key stakeholders

• Monitor performance of specified commercial activities using key metrics and prepare reports for senior management and the Commercial Activity Programme Board

• In consultation with relevant managers, assist in setting financial targets and budget development and monitoring, provide support and advice across the Council

• Develop, implement and monitor sales activity and marketing initiatives in consultation with WFDC media team

• Contribute to sustained growth in revenues for the Council’s products and services

• Manage income generation projects or activities as required

Flexible up to Full time hours – fixed term 3 years. The basic working week is 37 hours. The post holder will be required to organise his/her working week to meet the needs of the service, including attendance at meetings and special events during evenings, weekends, bank holidays, etc, payment for which is reflected in the grade. Part Time also considered.
