Fixed Term Contract for 3 years

This business critical post is pivotal in the successful development and implementation of a robust highway asset management regime. It will assist in delivering the City Council’s agenda for the effective management of the street scene and highway related assets and services. 

As a member of the Highways Services Team you will be responsible for

    1. Assisting in the development and implementation of the overall Highway Asset Management Plan including asset valuation and reporting to DfT
    2. Providing professional advice regarding the Authority’s highway assets and any other physical assets managed within the Highways Services
    3. Developing bespoke maintenance regimes for various highway assets whilst ensuring compliance with the Highway Authority’s statutory obligations
    4. Contract management, site supervision as well as financial management and budget control. It is necessary that you are familiar with the principles of long term asset management requirements for all asset types including carriageways, highway structures as well electrical assets.

The role requires excellent management, organisational, interpersonal and influencing skills with a strong technical knowledge and drive. You will be managing a strategic function and will have the ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with key service providers, contractors, business partners and other service users with the aim of improving efficiency and outcomes whilst supporting the Council’s policies, aspirations and direction of travel.

You will be a professional with detailed experience in developing successful improvement and highway asset management plans with an in-depth and up to date working knowledge of current developments and national requirements in this area.
