Construction Skills Project Manager
The West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) is a strategic authority working with partners to deliver a stronger West Midlands, with a focus on skills, innovation, transport, economic development and regeneration. Individual Councils and Local Enterprise Partnerships will still deliver services and retain their identity but on the big decisions we will have the resources to work together.
This is an exciting time for the West Midlands - the Commonwealth Games will be here in 2022, the arrival of HS2 will help make us a world class business location and a new £350m housing deal aims to deliver 215,000 new homes by 2031.

We are now looking for a forward-thinking, proactive individual to join our Skills and Productivity Directorate.
You will be responsible for providing effective project leadership for a multi-million pounds construction skills training programme. The funding was secured in our second devolution deal and will enable the WMCA to work with construction employers and skills providers to train up more people with essential construction skills. Construction is an area of huge growth and opportunity in the region, with significant investment in transport infrastructure, commercial developments and, of course, a new house building programme.
You will lead the development of new training solutions, working with the region’s colleges, universities, Job Centres and training providers to provide new skills. To succeed in this role, you must be experienced in working within the skills training environment. Above all, though, you will have an in-depth understanding of FE funding and be able to design and oversee delivery of bespoke training programmes.
