Earn while you learn with Warwickshire County Council - we have a fantastic opportunity for you to receive an excellent grounding in the crucial service that is Warwickshire County Highways.  County Highways look after and maintain the vast majority of roads and highways in the county from filling in  potholes, to planning and developing major new road projects. Our administration team provide crucial support to our operations and we are seeking a new addition to our team to undertake an apprenticeship and work towards becoming an Administration Officer.

The Role

37.0 Hours per Week

Fixed term contract - 18 months from start date

In this role you will learn to carry out a wide range of general administration / HR
duties, including:

  • Sickness & absence management
  • Holiday calculations
  • Processing highway applications and licences to enable the service delivery of all highway services for all stakeholders and customers
  • Being a point of contact for all internal / external customers, suppliers, and site based staff

The work you undertake will be supported by training and development opportunities. This will enable you to complete an apprenticeship in Business Administration and develop your skills and competencies in all tasks associated with the role; you will be ready to progress into a further administrative position upon completion of the apprenticeship.

Apprenticeship Pay Scale from 1 April 2018:
Point 1 = £155.40 per week, £4.20 per hour, £8,108.55 per annum – initial salary for all new starte rs for the first 12 months of the apprenticeship
Progression of pay after 12 months a re complete as follows:
Point 2 = £218.30 per week, £5.90 per hour, £11,390.58 per a nnum - completed 12 months and aged 19 - 20
Point 3 = £273.06 per week, £7.38 per hour, £14,247.88 per annum - completed 12 months and aged 21 – 24
Point 4 = £289.71 per week, £7.83 per hour, £15,116.66 per annum – completed 12 months and aged 25+

All Level 2 and Level 3 Apprentices start at Point 1.
You reach Point 2 if aged 19 or above and have completed 12 months of the apprenticeship.
You reach Point 3 if aged 21 or above and have completed 12 months of the apprenticeship.
You reach Point 4 if aged 25 or above and have completed 12 months of the apprenticeship.

Key Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills
  • To be able to independently interpr et and analyse information and facts to solve varied problems
  • The ability to organise own workload and decide priorities
