12 month Temporary Contract.  This is an internal vacancy open to employees of Walsall Council Only.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a team who are working extremely hard to reduce and prevent homelessness for young people in the Walsall area.

Are you interested in joining Housing and Welfare Services helping make a real difference to the lives of vulnerable customers?

This role is to support some of most complex customers who are facing homelessness in finding settled accommodation and addressing barriers they may face, supporting them to secure positive outcomes including employment, apprenticeships, training, life skills and further education.  You will have a flexible approach to work and be willing to work weekends and evenings as required.

Do you have specialized experience of supporting young people in a demanding environment, providing homeless or housing advice or do you work within the housing field, have excellent knowledge of housing legislation, PIE (Physiologically  informed environment) and possess excellent communication skills as well as knowledge of the Children’s Act?  If so, please contact us.

This post is covered by the Government’s Code of Practice on the English Language Fluency Duty for public sector workers.  The post holder will be required to communicate verbally with customers and provide advice and/or information in accurate spoken English.

Completion of an enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check is a requirement for this role. Walsall Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of children, young people and adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
