An exciting opportunity has arisen within Walsall’s Parks and Green Spaces Service.
We are looking for a dynamic individual who is keen to help and influence change and drive the service needs forward, and to implement proactive delivery of innovative schemes/projects and programmes for our Environmental Improvement Team.
You will have demonstrable knowledge and understating of the environmental service sector and broad experience of developing improvement projects in partnership with local communities and of exploring external funding opportunities. You will also have experience of developing management plans and action plans for key strategic outcomes for a range of green spaces.
You will be passionate about enabling people to get out and enjoy our parks, nature reserves and other green spaces, maximising the environmental and health benefits they offer. You must be able to communicate clearly with communities from different backgrounds and with different needs. You must be able to develop key programmes for green spaces around community involvement, education and engagement, and by exploring inclusive approaches of delivery. You must be confident in managing a number of tasks simultaneously and deliver high-quality work to tight deadlines.
You will be responsible for drawing up specifications and co-ordinating contracts in line with corporate procedures and financial regulations. You will also be working closely with colleagues from Clean and Green Services to ensure a smooth transition of contract delivery. You must have extensive understanding of Health and Safety management systems, maintenance programmes and inspection regimes. You will liaise with colleagues and third parties on establishing agreements, licences, leases, etc.
You will also help to implement Walsall’s new Green Space Strategy and to increase the Green Flag recognition of our Green spaces. You must have an understanding of Local, Regional and National agendas associated with parks and green spaces.
