Senior Planning Officer (Maternity Cover)
An opportunity has arisen to join Lichfield’s Development Management Team in the capacity of covering maternity leave for up to 12 months. You will have responsibility for your own caseload of applications, dealing with planning applications for new housing and commercial schemes, including major proposals. You will also be required to give pre-application advice and guidance to members of the public and developers on a wide range of planning related issues and present at our Planning Committee.
Although we are ideally seeking a full time (37 hours Mon-Fri) post, applications for part time/flexible hours will be also be considered.
You should have excellent team working and organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines, and be committed to quality in the built environment. Also, you should have a full driving licence, a planning related degree recognised by the RTPI, and post qualification experience in a planning related area.
You should have a good knowledge of the planning system, excellent organisational and time management skills, be a good team player with the ability to negotiate on complex schemes and have good written and verbal communication skills.
This position is career graded Band G to Band I dependent upon experience - the competency bars for each band are shown in the attached job description.
