This is an excellent opportunity to work with Walsall Council’s Chief Executive Support Team. This is a busy and demanding role where you will be directly responsible for a range of support services working alongside the Chief Executive’s Personal Assistant and Executive Officer. Drawing upon your experience you will act as first point of contact for a range of internal colleagues and external communication and will ensure that a comprehensive and confidential range of secretarial, administrative and business support services is provided.
We are looking for someone who can provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative support, and who has excellent customer care and interpersonal skills. You must be able to work accurately and under pressure and must possess excellent communication and customer service skills.
You should be a motivated self-starter, who can work on your own initiative as well as part of a team, remain calm under pressure and effectively prioritise your work load. Your duties will include diary and e-mail management, filtering and responding to enquiries via phone, and e-mail. You will need to demonstrate experience in a range of business support duties including typing of letters and reports, minute taking, invoicing and creating electronic files as well as a variety of other business support duties. You will also work as part of a team deputising in the absence of the Chief Executive’s Personal Assistant when required to do so.
You will need to be conversant with the Microsoft suite of products including Word, Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint.
You will have substantive secretarial and administrative experience, hold an NVQ Level 2 in Business Administration (or equivalent) and GCSE Grade 4-9 in Maths and English (or equivalent).
This post is covered by the Government’s Code of Practice on the English Language Fluency Duty for public sector workers. The postholder will be required to communicate verbally with customers and provide advice and/or information in accurate spoken English.
