Set up under the Government’s initiative ‘Adoption: A vision for change’ (2016) ACE is the regional adoption agency for Coventry, Solihull, Warwickshire and Worcestershire. We are seeking to recruit to key managerial positions in the service where the post holders will have a crucial role in supporting the development of the service and for ensuring that high standards of professional practice are maintained.

The Role

The positions available are:

• Operations Manager (30hrs) – 12 months maternity leave cover.

Based in Warwick the post holder is responsible for the teams that recruit, prepare, assess and support adoptive parents, the Adoption Panel arrangements and the initial contact/duty processes across the regional adoption agency. Applicants must have experience of managing and supervising social staff and a minimum 3 years’ experience of adoption practice 

• Team Manager (22hrs) - Permanent

This is a permanent position based in the Coventry Spoke where you will work alongside your job share colleague in providing support services to adoptive families and adopted adults alongside maintaining close working relationships with the Social Work Teams in progressing permanency plans for children. You will be responsible for the supervision of social workers and will also contribute to the ACE Management Group and other key meetings within the local authority.

• Team Manager (22hrs) – Fixed Term Contract for 6 months

To cover maternity leave the post holder will be in the Solihull Spoke working closely with Children’s Services and supervising social workers involved in family finding, providing adoption support services, undertaking non-agency adoption work and services to adopted adults.

• Adoption Panel Advisor (37hrs) – Permanent

Having a crucial role in ensuring that the ACE Adoption Panels work effectively and to the highest standards of practice you will be advising on up to 4 panels a month that are held in Warwick, Coventry, Solihull and Worcester. You will be required to provide advice to the Panel in accordance with relevant legislation, guidance, policies and procedures. You will also be a key point of contact between the Panels and local authorities for contributing to service and practice improvements.

This position is suitable for consideration by job share applicants. 

Key Requirements

Applicants for all positions are required to have knowledge of children social work and adoption practice and a strong commitment to ensuring permanency for children in care. Experience of supervising or supporting the professional development of others will be important alongside skills in workload management, problem solving and the ability to work independently and make decisions.

This is a regional initiative and a flexible approach to working practices and an ability to travel across the region if necessary, will be required.
