Salary: Band I SCP 50 - 53 (£45,651 to £48,568 dependent on experience )+ 30 days annual leave and other excellent benefits.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced safeguarding professional to be Sandwell Local Safeguarding Children Board’s (SSCB) Business Manager. The successful applicant will work in a varied role with a wide range of organisations, making a real difference to safeguarding children and young people across
The Safeguarding Board Business Manager is required to lead on the development of Sandwell’s Local Safeguarding Children Boards (SSCB), ensuring duties and responsibilities are effectively discharged in accordance with government guidance and legislation. This includes ensuring effective structures and processes are in place to facilitate and performance manage partnership working in relation to safeguarding children across the statutory, independent and third sectors. The Business Manager is also required to provide leadership, management and supervision to the Safeguarding Boards’ Business Unit, and provide support and advice to partner agencies on safeguarding responsibilities, including training.
This role works across a number of departments and organisations, but is currently hosted by the newly created Sandwell Children’s Trust.

What you will need to be successful in this role:
- Experience in a professional safeguarding capacity, which may include a qualification in social work or related discipline.
- Good knowledge of safeguarding children
- Good communication and planning skills and be able to show that you can quickly build effective working relationships with partners
- A high level of organisational skills
- Excellent report writing skills
- Staff management and development skills and supervisory experience
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, problem solving and analytical skills
- Confidence in being able to deal with people at all levels
- Financial and Budget Management skills
- A good working knowledge of LSCBs, their function and the move to new arrangements under WT'18.
