We have an exciting one year Procurement Apprenticeship opportunity in the Finance and Procurement Service, based at the Council’s Town Hall Office. The job involves learning and developing business skills in all areas of procurement as well as gaining experience in providing a high quality procurement function to the Council.

This role is ideal for someone who has an interest in contract management and business supply chains, has a keen eye for detail and likes a challenge.

The post holder will learn and develop business skills in all areas of procurement and managing the supply chain (Procure to Pay)

• Source quotations and place orders for goods, services and works using a computerised system.
• Assist with administrative tasks throughout the duration of the tender process until the award of the contract.
• Experience working in an accounts payable environment to develop skills in relation to paying invoices.
• Under close supervision, develop customer service skills by taking calls from customers, calling suppliers and meeting with colleagues across the service.
• Develop relevant management information reports from key system data (KPI pack, Transparency Data etc).
• Develop an understanding of how a procurement department operates through training on procedures, legal aspects and a variety of processes.
• Experience working in a team environment in order to develop essential communication and team working skills.
• Support colleagues in the Creditors and Procurement Department participating in daily activities alongside Officers.
• To assist the Procurement team in managing its eTendering System and Contracts Database.
To assist the Creditors team in customer support and administration via the eProcurement system (Ebuy).

You should have:
• Minimum requirement of 4 GCSE's grade A*-C (9 – 4) including Maths and English (or equivalent).
• Must have at least 2 A-Level’s (graded A* – C) or a minimum of at least 2 Level 3 BTEC Qualifications.

There will be a requirement to attend college one day per week.
