Would you like to work for a ‘Good’ local authority – one that allows your practice to flourish, and has an established safeguarding system that works?
Shropshire is a beautiful county and a great place to work and live, and this is an exciting time to join Shropshire Council. Our children’s services were rated as ‘good’ by Ofsted in November 2017 and we are keen to attract the best social workers to help us maintain our effective services to families.
We work in an established safeguarding system, with strong partnerships and effective Early Help services and ensure that vulnerable children, young people and their families are effectively supported to reach their full potential. During our most recent inspection, Ofsted felt that we knew our children well, and that we used a wide range of creative tools and direct work to understand their views.
Ofsted also said that “Senior leaders and elected members have robustly supported building up a strong, trained workforce to meet the high-quality social work practice expected by the Local Authority.”
Shropshire Council is committed to high standards and achieving the very best outcomes for children and young people through proactive and child focused care planning. It’s important that our social workers are able to provide good quality services to our most vulnerable children and we recognise that they need the right support to achieve this. This support includes a comprehensive learning and development offer and regular, good quality supervision from managers. We expect managers to support your learning and development needs to allow your practice to flourish.
You will be a HCPC registered social worker with experience in completing assessments, creating plans and carrying out interventions which create good outcomes for families. You will have a solid knowledge of legislation and regulation guidance relevant to your role and experience of working in frontline children’s services.
Working for Shropshire Council you will also receive:-
- A manageable workload
- High level of admin support
- Excellent ASYE support and programme
- An exciting learning and development package
- High quality professional supervision
- Supportive and collaborative team working
- Established safeguarding structure and partnerships
- A competitive package including benefits scheme, LGPS and generous holiday entitlement.
There is a vacancy available in the LAC and Case Management Teams.
