Street Cleansing Driver / Labourer (HGV)
East Staffordshire Borough Council is defined as a 'Principle Litter Authority' under the Environmental Protection Act 1990. As such, the Council employs a hard working and dedicated team to undertake litter picking, mechanical road and footway sweeping, maintaining and emptying litter bins, bulky waste collections and removing graffiti and fly posting.
This is an ideal opportunity for the right candidate to join the team and to help maintain the high cleanliness levels in East Staffordshire.
The role involves the driving of designated street cleansing vehicles and the associated cleansing of highways and public open spaces in support of the Council’s role as Principle Litter Authority. The type of vehicles you will drive will include mechanical road and footway sweepers, 3.5t pick-ups and a quad bike.
The hours of work are 37 per week Monday to Friday
You must hold a HGV Class C licence and have previous HGV driving experience, preferably in the waste management industry. You should also have a sound understanding of the health and safety implications of driving a street cleaning/waste collection vehicle, combined with excellent customer care and communication skills. A knowledge of the East Staffordshire area would be an advantage.
The hours of work are 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
There is a requirement to work on public and Bank Holidays and occasionally at weekends to ensure the provision of an efficient and effective service.
