King Edward VI Sheldon Heath Academy is a successful, vibrant, popular Academy serving its local community.  We have a superb modern building, an extremely committed and hardworking staff group and highly motivated young people, it is a great place to be.

We currently seek a Cover Supervisor on a fixed term basis to cover maternity leave, to deliver lessons across all curriculum areas and year groups in the absence of the classroom teacher.

The role will involve:

  • Supervising work that has been set, in accordance with Academy policy.
  • Managing the behaviour of students whilst they undertake this work, ensuring a constructive learning environment.
  • Responding to questions and requests for help from students.
  • Collecting completed work and reporting progress to relevant members of staff as appropriate.

To be successful you will set high expectations to motivate and challenge students whilst managing behaviour effectively, promoting a positive learning environment. In periods where cover is not required the ideal candidate must be flexible enough to undertake other tasks such as exam invigilation, break duties, form responsibilities, administration and general support. Previous experience working with children and young people or in a school environment is essential.  Appropriate training will be given.

This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) and therefore the ability to speak fluent and spoken English is an essential requirement for this role.
