The District Council is moving towards the adoption of a Local Plan which includes significant growth for the District. At this exciting time, an opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated person to join our busy Development Management Team and help us to build a sustainable and prosperous Wyre Forest. The post is a temporary 12 month fixed contract to help maintain service within the Section.

This is a challenging but rewarding position which requires excellent communication, time management, presentational, and, interpersonal skills. You will be expected to deal with a wide range of minor planning and related applications, informal enquiries, appeals and related matters across the District. You will work a part of the Development Management Team helping to protect, maintain and enhance the quality of the built and natural environment.

This is an excellent short term opportunity to gain experience within Planning and is suitable as a secondment opportunity for internal applicants. Experience in a Development Management section is desirable but not essential.

You will be able to demonstrate an interest in Planning and an aptitude and commitment to achieving high levels of performance. Some experience within Local Authority Planning and in particular Development Management would be an advantage. You should posses excellent communication, time management and presentation skills and be computer literate. A full valid driving licence and access to a suitable vehicle.

• Experience of dealing with members of the public.

• Previous experience in Development Management

• Experience of dealing with local Councillors.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Good interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work independently, as part of a team, flexibly, to tight deadlines and under pressure.

• ICT skills to access information and maps held on computer.

• A commitment to achieving high levels of performance.

A fixed term contract for 12 months.
