Can you ensure that the Council land, buildings and associated operations comply with all relevant statutory requirements?

Specifically, can you act as Council’s Lead Specialist for Asbestos?

The City of Wolverhampton Council’s Corporate Landlord Service brings together the Council’s considerable land and property assets into a single portfolio. The service has responsibility for ensuring that the estate is maintained in a compliant and safe condition.

In this role you will be responsible for development of the overall compliance strategy and implement operational arrangements for preventative and protective measures necessary to comply with the relevant statutory provisions including risks such as asbestos management, water hygiene, gas safety, electrical safety, lift maintenance, fire safety, etc. You will lead audits of contractors, manage budgets and provide specialist building safety advice to colleagues.

You will undertake line management of the Compliance officer.

You will have the experience and expertise to act as the Council’s Lead Specialist for Asbestos, developing the Council’s Asbestos Management Strategy together with the development of individual building Asbestos Management Plans.

As the successful candidate, you will have an extensive and proven track record in buildings related compliance, supported by appropriate qualifications. You will have extensive experience of reviewing asbestos surveys and schemes of asbestos removal. You will have an excellent understanding of asbestos removal techniques and other asbestos works, including the ability to assess the success of removal schemes.
