We have made significant progress since being judged inadequate in 2016. Our six Ofsted improvements visits have consistently reported positive progress with this service area showing significant improvement.

Jointly managing a team of 14 IRO’s/Conference Chairs one post holder with have lead portfolio for Children Looked After and one for Safeguarding but the post holders will be supportive of each other and interchangeable.

However we believe the service has a lot more to offer particularly around helping Dudley achieve the right balance, the right profile and outcomes for its most vulnerable children and young people. There will be a particular emphasis on avoiding delay, quality assurance and escalation where appropriate.

The team are already starting to make a contribution to the wider strategic developments of the directorate and the corporate agenda and we wish that to develop further. There is already a strong team ethos within the unit which is located on the same site as the MASH/Referral and Assessment and care management and the Court team. Our Centre for Professional Practice is widely recognised as excellent and staff development opportunities are second to none.
