An opportunity has arisen to join the Revenues and Benefits team at Lichfield District Council. Reporting to the Assessment Manager, you will be responsible for the assessment of Housing Benefit and Local Council Tax Support applications in accordance with the appropriate legislation and ensuring that the council’s policies and procedures are adhered to.
The purpose of the service is to reduce poverty within the district by maximising customer entitlement to Housing Benefit and Local Council Tax Support, giving people the money they need to pay their rent and council tax. The service plays an important role in helping people to maintain their tenancies, reducing homelessness in the area and working closely with the Revenues team to ensure people are billed correctly.
As a service we are focused on providing an excellent customer experience, in accordance with the Councils customer promise and applications which enable our customers to self-serve.
Candidates must demonstrate a strong working knowledge of Housing Benefit legislation and also have previous Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support experience including claims assessment. It is also essential that you can demonstrate a high standard in English (verbal and written) and Maths.
