Support Officer (Development Management)
The Borough of Newcastle-under-Lyme is situated in North Staffordshire on the border of Shopshire and Cheshire. It has a population of over 122,000.
We are looking for a highly motivated support officer to join our Planning department. You should have good time management and communication skills, be able to prioritise potentially conflicting tasks, sustain attention to detail and work to deadlines.
You will be the lead and expert support officer in a field of technical work required by the Development Management service area.
The post will involve providing technical and administrative support within the Development Management Business Unit, providing factual information to applicants and agents over the telephone or in writing in connection with planning applications, inputting planning applications into the computer system “Uniform” and the scanning of documents.
The post will also involve providing advice on the completion of valid applications, supporting Planning Officers in the process of planning appeals and the collection of statistical information to monitor performance.
Experience of working within an administration/clerical role is essential along with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages such as Word, Excel and Outlook for e-mail.
You will have a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade A-C (Grade 4 or higher in the reformed 2017 GCSEs) (or equivalent) including English and Maths.
