Social Care Lead Officer (Occupational Therapist) x2
We are looking for two highly motivated Social Care Lead Officers - Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist to help us deliver a service that is focused on maximising independence. You’ll have a sound understanding of leading of team of Therapists who work with complex physical disabilities. Your knowledge will be specific to aids, adaptations and moving and handling. It is an exciting and creative time in the OT service as we are developing new ways of working to meet the challenges ahead.
We are a dynamic responsive team and operate a duty system that you will be part of alongside colleagues in community social work and reablement to provide a streamlined customer journey. You will have the ability to drive innovative assessments, planning and delivering services and reviewing outcomes with your team of OT’s. Ensuring you address adversity and social exclusion, promoting service users independence and autonomy.
The post holders will line manage a team of Occupational Therapists whose primary function is to carrying out home assessments for disabled people in the borough. This will include functional, and moving and handling assessments; Assessing for the provision of specialist equipment & minor adaptations; Providing recommendations for major adaptations, including Disabled Facilities Grant applications through joint working with the Home Improvement Agency and Housing Colleagues.
Your responsibilities will include;
- To ensure the Occupational Therapy team deliver an enhanced customer journey
- Focus on the customer’s outcomes, will also contribute to the strategic outcomes of Sandwell MBC and partner organizations
- To support the continued professional development of the team, including practice, standards, quality and performance
- Implement and review information systems for the planning, commissioning and monitoring the activities of therapy service for vulnerable adults
Registered as an OT or Physiotherapist with the HCPC you will have experience of leading and managing a team who hold a complex caseload. You need experience and knowledge of relevant legislation with proven ability to work with vulnerable adults or children in a health and social care setting. Opportunities to develop your Personal Development Portfolio are available, and the attendance of training courses & skill sharing with OT colleagues are encouraged.
