An exciting opportunity is available to work within the Client Services Team at Wychavon District Council, Pershore in the heart of rural Worcestershire whilst being within easy access to the M5 network. We are an innovative Council delivering award winning services across The District which consists of the three market towns of Droitwich, Evesham and Pershore and over 90 villages.

Senior Parks and Greenspace Officer
£30,756- £34106 per annum
37 hours per week

This post is an essential role in maintaining the Parks and open spaces within the District. The parks section over the last 18 years has raised standards significantly and has gained Green Flag Status for our 5 main parks and has consistently achieved 80% plus ratings of satisfaction in surveys. New open spaces have come onto the contracts with more in the pipeline for the near future.

The post holder would be expected to maintain and where possible enhance existing standards across all greenspace with the assistance of three Greenspace Officers.

To apply you will need a relevant qualification in Horticulture or a closely related subject and substantial experience in managing a portfolio of parks and open spaces and /or landscape work. Previous experience in managing a team to deliver services and dealing with customers/public in a relevant field of Horticulture/Landscape.

Skills and experience required:

Horticultural knowledge especially for trees, shrubs and grassland management.

Managing contractors work.

IT skills

Budgetary control

Excellent customer service

Communication skills including writing reports for Committee , management plans , contractual specifications, public speaking and communicating with various organisations and councillors

Managing a team and ability to work alone.  

Ability to calculate and understand technical data

Enthusiasm and a flexible approach to work
