The Arts Section is a department within Warwick District Council that manages the Royal Spa Centre (theatre and cinema), Leamington Spa Art Gallery and Museum, the Town Hall and the Visitor Information Centre (located in the Royal Pump rooms). Staff working for the Arts Section are based across these sites. Work is varied and often is not office based but instead is about meeting artists, producers and the public, collaborating with them, and working out how we can best support each other in our mission to provide ‘inspiration and opportunity for all’ through the events and initiatives we organise and deliver.

We require an Apprentice to work as part of a team within the Arts Section, providing support to the Programming and Marketing and Collections and Engagement teams. The apprentice’s line manager will be the Marketing and Programming Supervisor. The successful candidate will work with the above teams to create and deliver initiatives that engage the community and increase footfall across the venues, anticipating and satisfying the needs of our customers. They will also assist with the management of hires at the Town Hall. This apprenticeship is a fantastic opportunity to learn about the dynamic environment of a theatre and gallery, how arts venues are managed, the developing landscape of making various art forms accessible to the public and the challenges faced in doing so.

This role offers the opportunity to work towards a level 3 Diploma in Community Arts Management and is perfect for someone looking to start a career in the arts sector. No experience is required as full training will be provided, however we would prefer candidates to have good written and verbal communication skills, a general knowledge and passion for the arts and experience of being part of team.

Apprenticeship Pay Scale from 1 April 2018:

Point 1 = £155.40 per week, £4.20 per hour, £8,103.00 per annum – initial salary for all new starters for the first 12 months of the apprenticeship

Progression of pay after 12 months are complete as follows:

Point 2 = £218.30 per week, £5.90 per hour, £11,383.00 per annum - completed 12 months and aged 19 - 20

Point 3 = £273.06 per week, £7.38 per hour, £14,238.00 per annum - completed 12 months and aged 21 – 24

Point 4 = £289.71 per week, £7.83 per hour, £15,106.00 per annum – completed 12 months and aged 25+

All Level 2 and Level 3 Apprentices start at Point 1.

You reach Point 2 if aged 19 or above and have completed 12 months of the apprenticeship.

You reach Point 3 if aged 21 or above and have completed 12 months of the apprenticeship.

You reach Point 4 if aged 25 or above and have completed 12 months of the apprenticeship.

Desired qualifications

•A minimum of 5 GCSE’s grade C and above, including Maths and English, or equivalent qualifications or experience

•Knowledge of Microsoft packages including Excel and Word.
