We have an exciting opportunity in our shared service IT team in Wychavon District Council, based in Pershore.

Our shared service team at Wychavon builds and manages a wide range of web applications across three large authorities including Worcester City Council. We work with a diverse set of client needs and believe that going the extra mile to make a good solution epic is crucial to ensuring we’re always innovating and improving what we do. We enjoy being a forward thinking team and are always keen to work with new kit and software that encourages channel shift from other forms of communication.

ICT Web Developer/Applications Engineer
37 hours per week – part time working may be considered
£23,866 - £34,106 per annum.

(This is a career graded post and starting salary will be commensurate with qualification and/or experience).

We’re looking for someone who shares our drive for developing the very best software that impresses both our customers and our fellow staff members.


As well as your web development responsibilities, you’ll also be given the chance to get involved in the decision making process for examining and designing proposed new web applications. Furthermore, you’ll gain plenty of experience in deploying applications, managing web servers and working with the IT infrastructure team.

You, being the ideal candidate, would have some understanding of or experience working with some of the following:

  • Java, PHP or an equivalent programming/scripting language
  • HTML5 and CSS
  • JavaScript
  • jQuery or similar JS library
  • Web services (REST or SOAP)
  • MySQL or equivalent database environment
