Project Support Officer
Our vision is to be a top global city region by 2030. We have the ambition. We have the opportunity. Now we need the right people to transform our aspirations into reality.
Greater Birmingham and Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership (GBSLEP) is a partnership of business, public sector and further and higher education leaders with a mission to create jobs, grow the local economy and raise the quality of life for all those who live and work in our area.
Greater Birmingham is the main driver of the UK economy outside of London and a key part of the Midlands Engine. We have the highest rate of growth of any UK city region, the leading LEP area for inward investment, and our economic renaissance is being catalysed by the arrival of HS2. We have established ourselves as one of the largest professional and financial centres in the country, with major strengths in the advanced manufacturing, digital & creative, life sciences and low carbon energy industries. But we also face significant challenges: levels of unemployment and economic inactivity are above the national average, and too many people have low skill levels or no qualifications and too few people have the high skill levels that key growth sectors will demand.
As an experienced Project Support Officer, with a track record in project development and delivery, you will support the Project Champions and work with project managers across the public, private and voluntary sectors to drive some of the most important regeneration and economic development projects in the country from concept to conclusion.
You will have a background in economic development, with experience of programme and project management through full lifecycles, practical experience of developing and appraising Green Book business cases, and good interpersonal, influencing and negotiation skills.
This is a fixed-term post until 31st March 2020.
The application closing date is Sunday 16th September 2018. Shortlisting will take place by Friday 21st September and interviews will take place on Thursday 4th October at Baskerville House, 2 Centenary Square, Birmingham, B1 2ND.
Informal enquiries to Tom Fletcher, Acting Head of Delivery on 0121 303 2150, or Lada Zimina, Project Champion on 07864931943.
“Right to work in the UK documentation will be fully checked for all applicants. All non UK and non EU applicants are required to apply for a Certificate of Sponsorship from Birmingham City Council and must be approved by the UK Border Agency (UKBA) before any employment offer can be confirmed.”
