Shropshire Council and Telford and Wrekin Council’s Joint Adoption Service is a high performing service that provides all aspects of adoption practice on behalf of the two councils.

We pride ourselves on the delivery of good outcomes for our children and we are nationally recognised for timeliness in achieving adoption placements.

An opportunity has now arisen to join our service as a Team Manager leading on the provision of Adoption Support.  Joining our service will give you the opportunity to make a real difference to everyone who is affected by adoption and to significantly contribute to service improvement in all areas of adoption practice.

This is an exciting time to join our service to lead on the implementation of our Regional Permanency Partnership in conjunction with Staffordshire, Stoke and Telford. Our ambition is to support and lead sector led improvement within the arena of permanence.

The main function of this role is to lead a team of social workers, therapists and social care staff to further embed our adoption support offer right across the spectrum.  This will include support to adopters, birth parents, children and young people in the early stages of adoption planning right through to support to adopters, birth parents and adoptees later in their adoption journey.

In addition to this, you will lead on the coordination and strategic oversight of the Adoption Support Fund and other sources of adoption support to ensure that bespoke packages are put in place to help and prevent adoption disruptions. Where required, you will also deputise for the Service Manager and fulfil the role of the ASSA in the absence of other key staff.

The Adoption Support Team Manager will also collate and provide requested performance information to support management reports, service development and OFSTED requirements. The post holder will also scan the legislative and research landscape for changes or developments in adoption practice to share with the wider service.

To apply for this post, you must be a qualified social worker with demonstrable post-qualifying experience in Adoption, preferably with some supervisory and management experience.
