We have an exciting opportunity for a new Governance Services Officer and are looking for a proactive, enthusiastic individual to join the team supports the formal decision-making meetings of the West Midlands Combined Authority. 

About us

The West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) is a strategic authority working with partners to deliver a stronger West Midlands, with a focus on skills, innovation, transport, economic development and regeneration.  Individual councils and local enterprise partnerships will still deliver services and retain their identity but on the big decisions we will have the resources to work together.

About the role

You will be responsible for supporting a range of the formal committees of the West Midlands Combined Authority, working closely with senior officers and councillors in preparing the agenda for meetings, collating and distributing reports, attending meetings in order to draft minutes, and to oversee actions arising out of those meetings. You will provide support to the Mayor of the West Midlands and the councillors from across the West Midlands who participate in WMCA meetings, and provide similar services to other internal officer meetings across the range of the WMCA’s workstreams.

To succeed in this role

You will have an excellent understanding of constitutional and governance practices within local government.  You will have strong attention to detail, work well within a team and be experienced in drafting accurate minutes of local authority meetings. You will have a proactive approach to problem solving and look to bring your existing knowledge and skills to the role.
