JOB TITLE: Senior Family Support Worker

Salary:  £22,401.00 - £25,463.00 per annum (pro rata) + two increments for weekend working

18.5 Hours per week – Permanent

Staffordshire County Council is recruiting a part time Senior Family Support Worker to work in the Intensive Interventions Fostering Team offering support to foster carers and placements across the service as part of Wrap Around Support Programme. This is an exciting and developing role offering intensive additional support to foster carers and placements at risk of instability on a county wide basis and will be based in Stafford.

This service provides an additional county wide support service provision to children and young people in Staffordshire Foster placements that are at risk of placement breakdown with the intention to retain those children within the home of their primary carer

You will take a direct supporting role to fostering households and contribute to multi professional assessments of need to ensure young people placed are safely supported and managed in stable secure placements. You will work directly with a range of multi-agency professionals to coordinate and maintain placement needs to increase stability.

You will have a key role in progressing and assessing the support options for children to maintain them in their current placement, reducing the need to escalate their care provision to either the residential or independent fostering sectors.

You will be available to offer advice, support and consultation to foster carers as part of a proactive weekend telephone support provision on a rota basis. As part this you will receive two additional increments for weekend working.

You will have as a minimum an NVQ3 Qualification in respect of working with children and their families or equivalent, and a commitment to continuing professional development.

You should have at least two years’ experience of direct work with children, their families and carers in a statutory or voluntary agency which provides services to vulnerable children and their families.
