Permanent Vacancy – Administrator & Stock Controller – Supplies – Fire Service Headquarters

Salary: Grade 4 (£18,672 - £20,541)

Hours: 37 hours (flexible working hours in operation)

About the role:

To assist in the provision of an efficient and effective Supplies section, by providing administrative support within associated areas.

Duties to include:

1. To assist in the performance of the day to day activities of the department in accordance with prescribed methods and procedures.

2. Assist in implementing authorised changes in methods and procedures used by the department. Maintain history of procurement savings achieved by the department.

3. To assist in resolving day to day enquiries from suppliers and other departments with regard to supplies related products and services. Placing external orders and internal stock requisitions on both the Fire Service and Police finance systems

4. Measuring and fitting of garments and PPE to personnel, liaison with Assistant Supplies Manager and Contract Tailor on uniform and corporate clothing initial sizing and alterations.

5. Raising orders against Budget Holders authorised requests, checking prices where required and sourcing suppliers when needed ensuring best value is achieved.

6. To assist in the maintenance of the computerised stock control system database, processing of invoices and other associated documentation relating to goods and services dealt with by the department as approved by the Supplies Manager.

7. To assist in the stock taking procedures and investigate and report any discrepancies found during the stock taking process or those reviled during normal day to day working.

8. Ensure all discrepant receipts are dealt with and actions taken are reported and recorded.

9. To assist in the warehouse and perform such other duties at a comparable level of responsibility as may be required.

10. To become part of the on call rota for the issue of emergency PPE and associated equipment.

We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate:-

• Experience of stock control administration or warehousing.

• Experience in the use of a computerised stock control system.

• Good Communication and Customer Service Skills

• Good general level of education.

• Keyboard skills.

• Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and Access

A current UK Full Driving Licence is essential.
