Working Pattern

The Public Health and Strategic Commissioning Team for Warwickshire County Council has a vacancy for a committed and enthusiastic candidate to join the Health Protection sub-team to support a varied and rapidly evolving work programme, in close collaboration with Coventry City Council and wider partners.

The Role

37.0 Hours per Week

The successful candidate will manage, develop and lead the successful delivery of the Coventry and Warwickshire Health Protection Strategy on behalf of the Coventry and Warwickshire Health Protection Committee (reports to Health and Well-being Boards in Coventry and Warwickshire), working closely with Health Protection team at Coventry City Council.

They will be responsible for all elements of the health protection portfolio, including governance, communication, partner relations, stakeholder engagement, strategic planning and performance management 

This will include responsibility for the local authority’s statutory health protection duties and programmes related to: 
• Communicable Disease Control – including TB, blood-borne virus control, antimicrobial resistance/infection control, screening and immunisation programme assurance/promotion, sexual health 
• Environmental Hazards – including fuel poverty, air quality, and oral health 
• Emergency Planning – including outbreak/pandemic flu planning and response, local health resilience, and extremes of weather 

The role includes a number of strategic, reactive, campaign and commissioning responsibilities, and support for a number of joint programmes with Coventry City Council, and will require strong partnership working with equivalent post-holders in Coventry. 

It is expected that 3 days a week of this post will be dedicated to the broader Health Protection portfolio, and 2 days a week to promoting health protection in care settings (working alongside social care commissioners and training and development teams), to include: Infection control, staff and resident vaccination programmes, outbreak management, business continuity/emergency planning, as well as support to MECC/falls/hydration/nutrition and well-being pathways. 

Key Requirements

We are looking for candidates with: 
- knowledge of the current health and care landscape 
- experience of developing and managing complex projects/programmes with good problem-solving skills 
- the ability to build and maintaining partnerships at all levels across a range of organisations 
- excellent verbal and written communication skills and high-level analytical skills (and competence with all Microsoft Office applications). 
- willingness and commitment to adopt an enthusiastic and flexible approach to work.
