The Worcestershire Internal Audit Shared Service hosted by Worcester City Council is recruiting an Auditor to join our forward thinking, busy audit service. This is a great opportunity to further develop your experience of internal audit in the public sector with a supportive and successful organisation.
At a time of change within the Council, partner organisations and the public sector as a whole, you will play an essential role supporting the Council, Partners and client aspirations to ensure good governance, effective risk management and sound controls.
Working alongside other Auditors, reporting to and supported by a Team Leader you will complete individual and diverse audits to provide an objective opinion on the various control environments the Service operates in.
Working with a given methodology the role will provide a great opportunity to undertake a wide range of end to end risk based audits including financial, systems, operational and IT audits. You will also work on risk management, corporate governance, National Fraud Initiative and assist with fraud investigations depending on ability and experience.
You should be outgoing, self-motivated with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a positive approach and willingness to contribute towards our excellent reputation for providing respected assurance work within a local government environment.
Ideally PIIA or equivalent qualified, but not essential. Experience of revenues and benefits would be an advantage but not an essential requirement.
Experience of internal audit in the public sector would be desirable.
An ability to demonstrate the following key requirements:-

- work under pressure and on your own initiative with minimum supervision
- juggle conflicting priorities
- meet agreed audit budgets, objectives and deadlines
Working across a number of sites currently in Worcestershire, the role will require you to travel and work at different locations so access to a vehicle would be an advantage.
A Basic Disclosure Check (verification of unspent convictions) to meet the Baseline Personnel Security Standard for using the Public Sector Network will also be required.
