As a Unitary Authority, Telford & Wrekin Council deliver planning services from a team which includes many specialists, such as highway engineers, ecologists, historic building conservationists, housing and recreation specialists; we help to deliver holistic and innovative solutions to all our customers.  

We are also innovators in our field. We deliver the Midlands’ first public sector commercial planning, development and environmental consultancy apT, who support developments through regulation process, from the promotion of land to achieving consents, through to its safe completion on behalf of clients across the region including Shropshire, Cheshire and the wider Midlands.

We are looking for a Planning Validation Officer, ideally with previous experience, to cover maternity leave and join our dynamic team to help support our exciting growth plans and development across the region.

You will be responsible for the validation and registration of planning applications and providing excellent customer service to the wide range of clients we deal with.

The post holder will have:

NVQ level 3 Business Administration or equivalent.

Ability to provide a professional service to the customer, recognising their individual needs and circumstances.

A flexible and adaptable approach to work and be able to deal with a number of issues simultaneously, responding to operational needs to deliver a high level of customer satisfaction.

The post holder will have :

Proven experience of working in a regulatory background is desirable

Experience of communicating and corresponding with a wide range of customers

Experience of administrative matters

Ability to learn and interpret legislation and procedures.

 

Ability to work under pressure and meet or exceed personal and team targets and deadlines, and be flexible in responding to changing circumstances.

Ability to work and make decisions, within prescribed procedures, with the minimum supervision.
