Its 2018 and Customer Services within Coventry City Council has changed, we are responsible for providing both internal and external support across the city.
We support a range of council services across the city and in addition have moved many functions into a brand new building, Friargate, located directly next to the train station.
We’ve brought our front-facing Services together in the heart of the city in our Customer Service Centre so that people are able to contact us once for all their needs.

Customer Service Adviser Level 1 – starting salary £17,173 per annum Fixed term Contracts
Customer Services has several vacancies within our busy Customer Services Contact Centre. Our opening hours are 9:00 – 17:00, Monday to Friday.
You will be answering customer enquiries, raising service requests, completing applications and sign-posting as appropriate.
You’ll be supporting people over the telephone, through e-mail and on occasion, face to face in our customer service centre.
You will need excellent communication skills, be able to deal with a diverse range of customers and able to work in a fast-paced environment. Ideally you will have experience of working in a call centre environment although training will be given.
The majority of these roles are full time positions although there are limited part time posts available to suit business needs.
20 Hour posts will usually be 13:00 – 17:00 to assist in service delivery targets
All roles will initially be offered on an initial 12 month contract.
Meet & Greet – Grade 3 – starting salary £17,173 Fixed Term Contracts
Based in the City Centre at various locations, you’ll be the first person that our customers meet in one of our busy buildings. You’ll be helping people to use our new self-serve channels, booking appointments, answering general enquiries and generally offering a warm welcome to the people of Coventry.
You will need excellent communication skills, patience and be able to connect and empathise with people from diverse backgrounds. You will need a genuine interest in helping and assisting people. You will have the ability to adapt your approach to suit the circumstances and be able to think on your feet.
There will be long periods of standing throughout the day depending on which location you are covering.
Full time posts available.
All posts will be offered as an initial 12 month contract.
Customer Service Support – Level 1 - Admin £17,173 Fixed Term Contracts
Our Customer Service Support teams are based throughout the city, supporting all services.
Our support teams cover wide functions from front facing reception roles in areas like our Children’s Hubs and the Register Office to traditional administration roles such as processing invoices / timesheet and taking minutes as well as some roles supporting our social work telephone contacts. Roles vary greatly according to service demand.
You will be an experienced administrator who is IT literate, able to use Word and Excel as well as able to embrace new technologies as the organisation reviews and updates its processes. Although this is essentially an administration role you will also need excellent customer service skills to deliver a professional service to both internal and external customers alike.
Some of our posts do require DBS clearance.
We have a number of full and part time positions available on an initial 12 month contract.
