We are currently recruiting for a Finance Business Partner to work within the Financial Services team providing high quality technical advice to the Council and enable services to make timely and well-informed decisions.

You will play a key role in the planning and closedown of the Council’s annual statutory accounts, including interpretation of accounting regulations and working closely with the Head of Financial Services in producing the Statement of Accounts.

The role will also have responsibility for the management of the monthly payroll process, including the completion of any statutory returns and reconciliations, and ensuring that our payroll and pensions services providers are supplied with all the required information for them to fulfil their responsibilities.

Other responsibilities would include
• the monitoring and forecasting of business rates income taking into consideration any legislative changes;
• working with colleagues from other Council departments assessing applications received for the Discretionary Rate Relief – Local Discount Policy;
• being the main finance contact for our procurement team for the provision of any financial analysis or advice on existing or potential contractors.

You should have recent and relevant experience in a finance environment, a customer-focused culture and the ability to respond to change positively. An ability to understand complex financial information and produce high quality and accurate financial reports is also essential.

No specific payroll knowledge or experience is required
