Transport Operations secures all home to school transport provision for students with special educational needs as well as adult transport to day care centres and respite services.

We are looking for a driver to join us on a relief basis to cover for staff absences at our Nuneaton depot. Work would be generally agreed in advance to cover staff holidays and training but with occasional short notice requests to cover sickness. 

The Role

As our Driver, you will be working within a team that works on a split shift system that will include a morning shift starting from as early as 7 am and finishing between 9.30 am and 11.00 am and you will then return for the afternoon shift working somewhere between 2.00 pm and 6.00 pm. You will be responsible for assisting and transporting adults and children to Day Care, Respite placements and Schools across Warwickshire. As well as driving, you will be helping passengers on and off the bus, ensuring their comfort and safety during transportation, maintaining the vehicle records and ensuring the bus is clean and tidy after each use. In addition you may be asked to undertake Passenger Assistant duties. 

Key Requirements

To be successful in this role, it’s important you enjoy driving, hold a clean Driving Licence with Category D1 and are available to work shifts in the early mornings and afternoons.
With good communication and customer care skills, you'll enjoy meeting and assisting people of various ages and disabilities providing a courteous and sensitive service.
With the ability to work within a team and on your own initiative, flexible in your approach, helping the wider team as necessary, you will be used to handling confidential information with tact and discretion.
It would be advantageous if you have experience of working in a multi-cultural environment and have experience of working with young and elderly people who are disabled.
