Private Tenancy Officer
Fixed Term Contract initially for 6 months
The Private Rented Sector (PRS) Service ensures that private rented homes in Birmingham meet legal requirements for health and safety and provides advice and support for tenants and landlords.
Recently the team has successfully been awarded funding from the Controlling Migration Fund to tackle the exploitation by rogue landlords in the PRS by targeting intelligence led enforcement activity. The bid also seeks to work with the third sector.
We are looking for a forward thinking Private Tenancy officer within the Controlling Migration Fund Team. You will be responsible for the though investigation of all notified cases of harassment and illegal eviction.
Awareness of legislation which affects the private rented sector.
Ability to interview clients outside the office, examine various alternatives and take appropriate action, (e.g., warning of possible prosecution)
Carry out all duties in respect of the Police & Criminal Evidence Act (PACE) 1984.
Knowledge of prevention of homelessness measures
Ability to write clear, concise letters and reports in response to queries from customers and landlords, and people acting on their behalf including Solicitors and other advice centers.
