We are seeking a Financial Safeguarding Support Officer to work part-time within the Community Financial Support Service. You will be working with the Welfare Rights Financial Assessments and Customer Finance Teams to provide support where individuals who require adult social care, are not able to manage their own finances.

The post holder will:

• Provide financial information, advice and guidance to Social Workers, the Community Financial Support Service, Debt Management and other external agencies on the mechanisms to support people with their finances when they do not have Mental Capacity to do it themselves.

• Support the development of processes across the Council to support people who do not have Mental Capacity to manage their finances.

• Make referrals and liaise with the Safeguarding team where financial mismanagement concerns are raised.

• Liaise with Debt Management in relation to debt collection for cases where the person does not have capacity to manage their own finances.

You must able to work on your own initiative setting up processes and procedures to help deliver an effective financial safeguarding service. You will need to be a strong communicator able to deliver briefings and training to stakeholders. The ability to assess difficult situations and identify solutions will be an essential attribute.
