Internal Secondment Opportunity

Integrated Area Programme Manager- Ref RT37918
G11 £39,565 to £44,255 per annum

Fixed Term Contract until 31 March 2020 (with a possibility of extension)

This is an internal secondment opportunity and is open to existing Walsall Council Employees only; (secondment- please remember to obtain approval from your line manager prior to submitting an application)

We are looking for a person who is passionate about Walsall‘s diverse communities and equally as passionate about the benefits of integration.

Having a proven track record of effective collaborative work across a range of stakeholders, from elected members, senior management to volunteers the person will lead by example in a coordinated way which motivates others to buy into the benefits of an integrated Walsall.

You will have previous experience of working with diverse communities and good understanding of inter-cultural dimensions that impact on cohesion and integration issues.

You will have previous programme management experience demonstrating innovative, flexible and focused activities where accountability lies at the forefront of delivery.

The initial 18 month duration is a key part of the Governments Integration Strategy https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/696993/Integrated_Communities_Strategy.pdf

You will have an opportunity to shape projects which will have high levels of political and public scrutiny where failure is not an option. The ability to work under pressure managing a complex workload is a pre requisite of the post.

You will be a focused and methodical person who holds partners, residents and team members to account. Having experience of motivating organisations and individuals who may have initial resistance to change, you will have an understanding of the barriers to engagement with a deep understanding of cultural barriers, including localised estate based cultures experienced through working across Walsall communities.

Our ideal candidate will be confident in their ability to deliver, have a community based degree and have experience managing innovative projects across a range of stakeholders including the voluntary and faith sectors, statutory partners, residents and key internal Council services.

If this sounds like an opportunity which you would like to be part of a highly motivated team who are passionate about integration and challenging inequality then we would like to hear from you.

For an informal discussion please contact;

Dr Irena Hergottova Head of Community, Equality and Cohesion on 01922 655751 or email irena.hergottova@walsall.gov.uk
