The Role

Higham Lane School is a high-performing 11-18 comprehensive academy with approximately 1425 students on roll, based on an attractive site in the north east of Nuneaton on the Warwickshire-Leicestershire border. We are now looking to make a permanent appointment for January 2019 of a dynamic full-time permanent Teacher of English to role model high quality learning and teaching and to maximise the achievement of students. We believe this is an exciting opportunity for a newly-qualified or experienced teacher to join our successful, high-performing and friendly English Department. We will enhance the skills you require for your next promotion, if that is what you seek. The English Department comprises fifteen members of staff. Five members of the Department have leadership responsibilities: the Subject Leader, four Assistant Subject Leaders, and the Extra English Coordinator. Lessons are taught in nine specialist rooms equipped with digital projectors and whiteboards. The Department makes frequent use of its computer suite and each member of the Department has a laptop. Teamwork is a real strength of the English Department. Teachers work closely together on writing Schemes of Learning and sharing practical approaches to teaching each aspect of every course. Meetings are active and really help to share everyone’s best ideas! We know that a team works at its best when everyone contributes! We all have aspects of our work that we are superb at and a few that we would like to develop further.

Key Requirements
