Vacancy for Clerk to Governors

Salary:         Grade 3 SCP - 14

 

Start date:    1st December 2018

Crown Meadow First School & Nursery is a 2-form entry primary school in the village of Alvechurch with x staff & x pupils.  The full governing body meets approximately 6 times per academic year with committee meetings taking place approximately 10 times per academic year.

The local Governing Body is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic & highly motivated administrator to the post of Clerk to Governors. This is a unique and exciting opportunity for an excellent Clerk to work to support our Governing Body in the strategic management & development of our school.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:-

  • Preparation, typing & distribution of agendas & associated paperwork in consultation with the chair of governors;
  • Taking of & typing of minutes for full & Committee Governor meetings;
  • Maintaining accurate records of the Governing Body & its membership;
  • Liaising with the National Governors Association as relevant;
  • Attending termly clerk briefings;
  • Advising the Governing Body on procedural issues, legal responsibilities and constitutional matters as appropriate.

    The successful candidate will:-

  • have excellent communication & organisational skills;
  • be able to work independently whilst at the same time forming effective     relationships with the governors, head teacher & other school teams
  • be able to organise their own time & work to strict deadlines. There will be approximately 18 meetings (held in the evening) a year plus time needed to prepare materials both in advance and after meetings.

 

 

Knowledge of how schools & governing bodies operate would be an advantage.  However, training on procedural matters will be provided.
