Core Responsibilities:

  • Carry out audit of CE/IAG provision across the school.
  • Update IAG Quality Mark Document - demonstrating excellence practice in WRL, CEG and IAG. 
  • Identify groups of students and assess needs in relation to CE/IAG; Eg - NEETS, university potential, etc.
  • Prioritise groups and produce ILPs, destination data and general analysis for high priority groups and individuals.
  • Produce an Action Plan for CE/IAG and establish career education priorities for action for each academic year and review them annually.
  • Coordinate the Information, Advice and Guidance procedures and events for students, relating to post-16 and post-18 progression and careers guidance, as the school’s designated Careers Coordinator.
  • Complete Careers Leader training to fulfil the statutory role in schools

Support to Students, Parents and the Community

  • Maintaining reference documents on national and county Careers Education policy.
  • Maintaining and manage an up-to-date Careers Library.
  • Maintaining whole-school resources.
  • Liaising with external careers organisations in order to provide an integrated system
  • Liaising with the external careers advisors and relevant school staff to ensure effective provision
  • Under the guidance of senior staff provide support to distribute and manage materials used in careers guidance activities.
  • Communication with students, staff and parents about appointments, developments, etc.
  • Under the line management of senior staff, administering the aspirational, career and pathway
  • evenings
  • Co-ordinate interviews and the application process for 6th form
  • Liaising with visiting speakers and organisations; Eg - for assemblies and workshops
  • Overseeing the behaviour of small groups of students working with external visitors
  • Attending assemblies / events to distribute information as required
  • Mentor identified students, to arrive at a placement that meets their needs and enhances their learning and to maintain that placement
  • Meet with parents in school to explain appropriate learning pathways at KS4
  • Liaising with parents over pathways, progression and placements.
  • Visit students on placements and maintain telephone contact.
  • Visit work placements to undertake progress checks on students.
  • Liaise with appropriate member of the Senior Leadership Team and the SENCO on students’ engagement and progress
  • Organise and accompany trips for students relating to work related programmes
  • Mentor students through relevant accredited certification.
  • Co-ordinate interviews and the application process for 6th form and support / maintain course and administrational set-up.
  • Organisational Support
  • Liaise with external providers and complete all documentation relating to the placement..
  • Source providers for placements, visits and career support for students.
  • Maintain documentation in student files and communicate successes and difficulties to appropriate managers on a termly basis.
  • Attend external meetings relating to school programmes.
  • Liaise with relevant staff in school.
  • To assist and support the Head Teacher as and when required to do so.
