James Brindley is a stand-alone Academy based in a wide variety of locations across the City of Birmingham. In the course of a school year we educate over 3,000 pupils for periods ranging from a few days in hospital to several years in one of our teaching centres. The majority of our pupils have complex medical needs and many have been out of education for a significant period of time prior to joining the school. We offer a full-time curriculum to young people from EYFS to KS5 and our aim is always to enable them to ‘close the gap’ and to exceed expected progress during the time they are with us. This is an excellent time to join James Brindley as the school continues to implement a revised strategic vision

developed by staff, governors and other stakeholders following the successful January 2017 Ofsted Inspection when we were judged to be GOOD in all aspects. The role involves teaching pupils with medical needs who are unable to access mainstream education at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. Many of our pupils have gaps in their education and we strive to implement creative teaching strategies to reduce the impact of educational disadvantage, enabling all our pupils to access learning and make expected progress. You should be passionate about developing and supporting the needs of the whole child and

committed to enabling all pupils to achieve their potential. We are looking for a qualified temporary Primary teacher with tenacity, positivity and experience of teaching EYFS, KS1 and KS2 You should have QTS and a track record as a consistently good practitioner. Duties include teaching a variety of pupils, some with S/PMLD ensuring that work is differentiated to meet the specific needs of pupils who are admitted to a hospital ward setting. You will be based at Birmingham Children’s Hospital but may be required to travel across the city as required.
