The Ladder School is looking to recruit a brand new staffing team for the opening of the school in January 2019.

The Ladder School is an academy that is part of The Mercian Trust. The Ladder School is a Free School set up by the trust to offer effective alternative provision for the young people of Walsall.

Based on the edge of Walsall town centre there are excellent links to the local and wider community. The Ladder School will operate under a commissioning model, where local mainstream schools will identify students at risk of permanent exclusion and will move them to The Ladder School, to reform their behaviour and enable them to be successful in their future.

Vacancy 1 - Cleaners (2 Posts) SCP 10 £16,863 (Pro-rata to hours worked)

The Cleaners will be responsible in supporting the Head of Operations to ensure that the school is a suitable environment for staff to work and students to learn.

The applicants should have experience of cleaning, ideally in a school setting. All applicants should have a qualification/certificate in Health and Safety or should be willing to undertake this.

A good knowledge of how schools work is crucial to understanding the flexible approach needed to ensure the school can run effectively. Staff should be committed to working as part of a close-knit team.

The hours worked can be flexible to ensure we attract the right candidate. It is likely that the hours would be part of a split shift working pattern.

Post 1 – 17.5 hours (6.30am – 8.00am) and (4.00pm – 6.00pm)

Post 2 – 17.5 hours (6.30am – 8.00am) and (4.00pm – 6.00pm)

Vacancy 2 - Site Technician SCP 13-16 £17,391 - £18,870

The Site Technician will be responsible in supporting the Head of Operations to ensure that the school is a suitable environment for staff to work and students to learn.

The applicants should have experience of supporting the operational function of a site, ideally in a school setting. All applicants should have a qualification/certificate in Health and Safety or should be willing to undertake this.

A good knowledge of how schools work is crucial to understanding the flexible approach needed to ensure the school can run effectively. Staff should be committed to working as part of a close-knit team.

Applicants that have experience/qualifications in a practical trade would be highly desirable for the position. A flexible approach to working is crucial to this post.

Vacancy 3 - Admin Support Assistant SCP 13-16 £17,391 - £18,870

The Admin Support Assistant will be responsible in supporting the Head of Operations to ensure that the school runs effectively. They will act as the first point of contact for all enquiries in school

The applicants should have experience of administration, ideally in a school setting. All applicants must have a minimum qualification of Grade C/4 in English and Maths at GCSE level.

A good knowledge of school-based systems such as SIMS, Go 4 Schools, School IP would be an advantage. A specific interest in exams, SIMS, ICT or data would be an advantage.

Staff should have the ability to engage well with students and should be committed to working as part of a close-knit team. Previous applicants need not re-apply.
