An exciting opportunity has arisen to work for the Archdiocese of Birmingham, based in the Diocesan Education Service at Coleshill. This new role has been created to work as part of a growing and dedicated team to support Catholic schools across the Diocese. Working strategically across the Archdiocese will enable you to provide direction and support to all our schools. The role will be both rewarding and challenging as we continue to embrace changes to the education sector. We will provide the opportunity to experience, first-hand, the diversity of our 236 schools across the Diocese, which covers 13 local authorities ranging from Stoke-on-Trent, in the north, to Reading, in the south.
The role, based within the Finance and Building team will be central to delivering our Mission, “to announce the joy of the Gospel by making Christ known today through securing, protecting and improving the provision of Catholic Education in the Archdiocese of Birmingham”. The successful candidate will:
- Be responsible for the strategic monitoring of Voluntary Aided Schools and academy budgets on behalf of the Diocesan Education Service and providing appropriate strategic advice and support with the aim of improving, securing and protecting Catholic Education.
- Work with headteachers and executive leaders, governing bodies, boards of directors, the Education and Skills Funding Agency, Department for Education, Charity Commission, local authorities and other agencies regarding school finance matters.
- Assist in the preparation of bids, brokering specific support where appropriate and providing training and advice to schools and academies.
- Undertake any other professional duties that are reasonably delegated by the Deputy Director.
