Senior Accounting Technician
£20,541 to £29,055 p.a. Incremental progression is dependent on performance.
We have an exciting opportunity for a qualified Accounting Technician to join our highly regarded Financial Operations Division in a permanent Band D role in the Children Services & Skills Finance Team.
As a Senior Accounting Technician you will play a key role in providing a range of financial, administrative and technical functions. You will work closely with your customers throughout the financial cycle to provide comprehensive financial advice and support, identify savings, budget setting, perform monthly monitoring, analysis of variations and changes and close the accounts.
The Children Services & Skills Finance Team provides support to a range of services, with Children, Education / Skills Development at the heart of everything we do. We are looking for someone with drive and a desire to help shape and improve financial management and support for our customers, many of whom are working on the front line to improve the lives of vulnerable individuals. The role will provide a challenging and varied opportunity for the successful candidate.
We are looking for someone with experience of working in a professional finance environment, including preparing budgets and monitoring, forecasting, analysing and reconciling complex data. You will also have:
- 5 GCSEs including Maths and English Language A*-C or 4-9 (or equivalent Level 2 qualification)
- Full membership MAAT (or equivalent)
- Excellent IT skills with significant experience of using Excel (or equivalent) effectively and efficiently to analyse and interpret complex data
- Strong numeracy, financial and analytical skills
- Effective organisation skills and an ability to plan and prioritise your own work load
- Strong communication / interpersonal skills
